How gratuity works in Oman

Service from 31 July 2023: one month (30 days) of basic salary per year, pro rata, with no minimum service.
Service before 31 July 2023 (old law): 15 days per year for the first 3 years, then 30 days per year.
If your service spans both periods, each part is calculated under its own rule.

If you resign

There is no reduction for resigning. You get gratuity whether you resign or are terminated.

Good to know

This applies to expatriate employees. Omani nationals are covered by the social insurance system instead.
