What goes into a final settlement

  • Gratuity: your end-of-service benefit, calculated from your service length and wage.
  • Unpaid salary: days worked in your last month that have not been paid yet (full salary including allowances).
  • Leave encashment: unused annual leave paid in cash, at the daily wage (monthly wage ÷ 30).
  • Notice pay: if either side ends the contract without serving notice, the notice period is paid out.
  • Deductions: loans, salary advances or other amounts you owe the employer.

How gratuity works in Qatar

  • You must complete at least 1 year of service.
  • At least 3 weeks (21 days) of basic salary for each year of service.
  • Part years are paid pro rata.
  • Your contract may give more than this, never less.

If you resign

There is no legal reduction for resigning. After 1 year you get gratuity whether you resign or are terminated.

Good to know

  • Some contracts give 30 days per year. If yours does, your entitlement is higher than this minimum.
